The Art of Trial and Error

Sometimes experiments fail. After working on this mixed media collage for several weeks, I finished and hung it in a show. Within a day, the piece warped beyond repair. I learned that cardboard isn’t a great substrate, at least not for large work, and at least not in humid Florida. But I enjoyed creating with new materials and techniques. 

This morning, I swapped out the Disposables with an older painting on canvas. Then, I gently put these masked peeps in the big green dumpster at my office. Oh well. I appreciate the reminder that sometimes experiments fail, and that I am still okay.
